Description: The online course Kickstart Calculus is ideal for students who are entering regular level or AP Calculus AB in the fall of 2020. Students coming out of Precalculus will benefit tremendously from this course. The goal of the course is to provide students with a solid foundation in Calculus concepts, to better prepare them for their first Calculus class

The Online Kickstart Calculus course is broken up into 3 units:

Unit 1 (8 lessons): Precalculus Review of Functions; Limits and Continuity; Definition of Derivative

Unit 2 (10 lessons): Derivative Rules; Velocity and Acceleration; Implicit Differentiation; Applications of the Derivative

Unit 3 (10 lessons): Curve Sketching using the Derivative; Mean Value Theorem; Linearization; Optimization Problems; Related Rate Problems

Options for Kickstart Calculus: Students may sign up for any unit or all units. The course is available for private tutoring, semi-private tutoring, and small groups of 4 students or more. Scheduling is flexible for private tutoring and semi-private tutoring.

Individual tutoring sessions and small group classes will be conducted online via Zoom or Skype.

Small Group Classes will meet from 11:00 am – 12 pm on the following days:

Unit 1:

  • June 29 – July 2 (Mon. – Thurs.)
  • July 6  – July 9  (Mon. – Thurs.)

Unit 2:

  • July 13 – July 16 (Mon. – Thurs.)
  • July 21 – July 23 (Tues. – Thurs.)
  • July 28 – July 30 (Tues. – Thurs.)

Unit 3:

  • August 4 – August 6 (Tues. – Thurs.)
  • August 11 – August 13 (Tues. – Thurs.)
  • August 18 – August 20 (Tues. – Thurs.)
  • August 25 (Tues.)

About the Instructor: Jean-Marie Gard has been tutoring and teaching all levels of high school math for nearly twenty years. She taught math at Bedford High School and Boston College.  She has won teaching awards at both Bedford High School and Boston College. She really enjoys helping students attain success in math!
